50 years of Martinsclub – flexible traveling exhibition on the activities and history of the association

The Martinsclub in Bremen has been committed to the inclusion of people with disabilities in all areas of society with a wide range of activities since 1973. To mark its 50th anniversary, we designed a travelling exhibition that brought the club’s diverse history to life.

In the exhibition, interactive exhibits gave visitors a tangible and vivid impression of the activities and history of Martinsclub. The content could be explored in a variety of ways at interactive stations. We used directly printed panels made from characteristic birch wood to create an atmospheric link between the exhibits and the club’s facility. The foldable wall modules enabled easy adaptation to different room structures. In addition to their function as carriers of information, they also served as flexible room dividers. The constructive design made them easy to assemble and dismantle and easy to transport.

Does a cloud fit in a suitcase? What noises does a kitchen make? What is a scent organ? Where do you sleep during a polar expedition? What is it that glows in the underground of Frankfurt? Where is the division between gaps and holes? And what happens when 20 pigeons move into a gallery?
